Our People

The reliability of our service depends on our people, who look after our clients day in and day out. They are the cornerstone of everything we do, and supporting and developing them is central to our success.

Our approach to people management is more than just a set of activities. We provide support for developing their knowledge and skills, ensure open channels of communication, and invest in modern equipment, innovative products and materials to support them in their work. But we know that it is personal attitude which delivers a top-class service. This happens when there is a positive attitude and committed behaviour, something which we acknowledge, celebrate, and reward. That’s the Grosvenor way.

Staff Engagement

Our people are ambassadors for Grosvenor Services and also the voice of our clients. It is through our people that we share best practice and replicate standards.

Ease of communication enables staff engagement and better support. We run a well-established monthly newsletter which keeps all people updated on business news as well as stories of interest about their colleagues, and every two months we run some form of competition, whether this be photography art crosswords, this is all about keeping our people involved.

‘Ask Bernard’, is a direct link for any member staff to contact our group managing director. This allows Bernard McCauley to answer questions raised by operational staff as well as publishing those answers online.

We make available all of our mandatory documents, in the five dominant languages spoken in our business.

We use a number of forums to engage with staff at every level and listen to what they have to say. In addition, we have introduced technology to the front line. Our industry-leading auditing tool allows us to complete audits and share them on our intranet in real time, improving communication and transparency for clients and staff.

We also believe in recognising hard work and exceptional people. As well as nominating team members for external awards, we run a number of awards for staff who go above and beyond, including:

  • The Extra Mile Award
    Our monthly Extra Mile awards go to Grosvenor Services employees in the UK and Ireland. The awards are peer nominated and acknowledge colleagues who have gone above and beyond or have delivered high standards of work and commitment.
  • Team of the Year Award
    In our annual Team of the Year Award, area managers nominate their strongest teams. They are subsequently fully audited by our Team of the Year committee, with the highest scoring team receiving the coveted title.
  • Annual Sustainability Award
    This award is open to both individuals within the business as well as client sites. This is to recognise the achievements of our staff in such areas as environment, biodiversity, whether at home or at work. This carries with it not only a trophy but also a substantial financial reward.
