Cleaning Services

Mary Immaculate College

Partnership since March 2011

Background

Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is a University Level College of Education and the Liberal Arts, academically linked with the University of Limerick. It is a multi-campus institution, with a student population of over 5,000 students enrolled in undergraduate programmes in Primary and Post-Primary Education, Liberal Arts and Early Childhood Care and Education, as well as a range of postgraduate programmes at Diploma, Masters and PhD level.

We were awarded the contract by competitive tender in 2011. In 2019 we successfully retained the contract for a further four-year term, a testament to our excellence in service delivery.

Our Services

No two days are the same for our on-site team, and each area requires a specific approach. We remain adaptable to MIC’s changing requirements, delivering a high-quality, bespoke service for the different areas in scope:

  • Classrooms, seminar rooms
  • Lecture halls and theatres
  • Boardrooms
  • Laboratories
  • Toilets and shower rooms
  • Computer labs
  • Library
  • Medical centre
  • Residence blocks
  • Offices

Our Solution for MIC

At Grosvenor we place high importance on staff welfare and ensure that our teams are properly equipped to deliver the service in all seasons. When staff first joined the Mary Immaculate College contract, they spent two weeks becoming familiar with data sheets, safety policies and the site itself. At the end of those two weeks, they knew their way around and were then able to undergo on-the-job induction training for three months. In addition, they attended Grosvenor’s training centre to qualify in cleaning techniques and methods, which is to British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) standard.

Challenges

Our vast experience within the education sector allowed us to anticipate the array of challenges that could be expected in a busy third level education environment. For example, many areas, such as the bedrooms in the residence blocks, can only be cleaned when they are unoccupied. There is also a huge amount of waste produced, often unseparated, which requires removing. Considerations also must be made with regards to the cleaning products used.

The Results

At the heart of this success is a close working relationship, and dedication to achieving our client’s goals. We are delighted to have such a strong partnership with the team at MIC.  The on-site team are proactive and use their knowledge and customer experience to anticipate service requirements. The intensity and daily rigour around the contract ensure consistently high-quality results.

“It was a natural step to support MIC’s Green commitments while reducing the carbon impact of our operations. Understanding what is important to our clients epitomises the way we work, and we will continue to work closely with Mary Immaculate College to promote recycling and support its environmental policies.”
