Cleaning Services

Rhyl Community
Primary School

Partnership since May 2022

Background

Based in London’s Camden area, Rhyl Community Primary is spread over two sites – Rhyl Street and Grafton Road. Rhyl Street caters for Years Two to Six. Grafton Road has a nursery for children aged two to four, as well as Reception and Year One. Most of the schools’ pupils come from the local community, with social value as a key priority for this client. Rhyl recently launched a Community Hub, Children’s Centre and Adult Learning Centre on the Grafton Road site. There they offer a range of weekly activities, workshops and groups for parents and the wider local community. This is in addition to After School Clubs and Sports Clubs.

Rhyl required a flexible cleaning provider who could adapt to the busy, changeable primary school environment. Our contract with Rhyl began in May 2022. We deliver daily cleaning after school Monday to Friday, as well as periodic tasks during school holidays.

We were awarded the contract by competitive tender in 2011. In 2019 we successfully retained the contract for a further four-year term, a testament to our excellence in service delivery.

Our Services

It is our role to provide a safe, professional and efficient cleaning service across both sites, in compliance with the client’s high standards. Each area of each school requires a specific approach, and our service delivery model has already evolved throughout the contract term. Every day is a school day – and no two days are the same in the primary school environment. Our on-site teams remain flexible to the schools’ varying requirements and ad-hoc tasks. For example, we adjust our cleaning in line with events such as Open Evenings and Parents’ Evenings.

From daily cleaning to periodic tasks, we use environmentally-friendly products to deliver a bespoke, high-quality solution. Areas requiring cleaning include:

  • Offices and staff rooms including kitchen area, etc.
  • Entrances, lobbies, reception areas and foyers
  • Toilet areas, including showers
  • Classrooms/teaching areas
  • Gyms and assembly halls
  • Food technology rooms
  • Stairs and landings
  • Computer rooms
  • Meeting rooms
  • Medical rooms
  • Outside areas
  • Corridors
  • Libraries

Within these areas, the scope of services includes but is not limited to cleaning:

  • Internal finishes, walls, skirting and ceilings
  • Mirrors, glass partitions, internal windows
  • Furniture, fittings and equipment
  • Toilets and shower rooms
  • Internal glazing

Our on-site teams need to keep the schools looking and feeling fresh throughout the day, while avoiding disruption to any school activities. Additionally, as with all our contracts, Health & Safety are paramount. We ensure the school environment is kept tidy and clutter free from our cleaning equipment and any service-related waste. Our teams maintain communication with the relevant school contacts, and promptly report any issues such as damage or graffiti to the relevant staff member. A strong, honest and collaborative relationship is key to the ongoing success of this contract.

Social Value

Social value is a priority for Rhyl. They pride themselves on giving back to the local community, and they wanted a partner who would do the same. We share this mission; we always strive to look for ways to give back to our clients and the communities surrounding our sites. Some of our social value initiatives on the Rhyl include:

  • Providing vouchers to help with grocery costs and school dinners.
  • Creating a ‘Clean School Pledge’ and a ‘Green School Pledge’.
  • Helping minimise waste produced with suggestions including a poster competition for Rhyl pupils.
  • Helping improve employment opportunities in the local community.
